WhatsApp for your webinars
Webinly is a platform for running online webinars and courses. This page explains the WhatsApp part of it: what it does, what we store, and how anyone can stop the messages.
What it does
A business that runs webinars connects their own WhatsApp Business number to Webinly. After that, the messages their audience already expects can go out on WhatsApp instead of only by email:
- a confirmation when someone registers for their session
- reminders before it starts
- the link to join when it goes live
- the recording afterwards
- a follow up for people who registered and did not attend
Replies come back into Webinly, so the business can answer the person who wrote to them.
The number stays theirs
Connecting happens through Meta's own sign-up window. The WhatsApp Business account and the phone number remain owned by the business that connected them, and they are billed by Meta directly. Webinly is granted permission to send and receive on their behalf, and that permission can be withdrawn by them at any time.
We never move a customer's number into our own account, and one customer can never see another customer's conversations.
What we store, and for how long
For each conversation we keep the phone number, the message text, and any picture, document or voice note that was sent, so the business has the conversation in one place while they are using the service.
We do not sell this information and we do not share it with anyone else. It is kept only to provide the service described above. When a business disconnects their number, or a person asks to be erased, the conversation and its media are deleted.
How to stop the messages
Anyone can reply to a WhatsApp message from a Webinly customer with a stop word and the messages stop immediately, with no further step required. Both English and Arabic words are recognised, including STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, إلغاء and إيقاف.
To have personal data removed as well, follow the steps on the data deletion page.
