FUNNELS

Webinar funnel builder: checkout, order bumps and one-click upsells

A webinar funnel builder makes the pages that turn a signup into a sale and links them in order: checkout, an order bump, a one-click upsell, a downsell for people who say no, and a thank-you page. In Webinly that is Funnels, a multi-step builder that is switched on per account, on request. The registration page, a paid webinar's checkout and the offers inside the webinar room do not need it.

What a webinar funnel builder builds

The webinar does the persuading. The pages around it do the collecting, and each has one job. Get one wrong and every page after it sees fewer buyers.

StepIts jobRule of thumb
Landing or registration pageGets the click that starts everything. One promise and one button. Every other link is a leak.
CheckoutTakes the payment.Ask only for what you need to deliver. Each extra field is a reason to stop.
Order bumpA small add-on offered at the moment of paying.Price it well below the main offer and make it finish the same job, like a template or a checklist.
UpsellA bigger next step, offered right after the purchase.Sell the next stage of the same result, in one click, with no second form.
DownsellA lighter option for people who said no to the upsell.A smaller version of the upsell, not the same thing a little cheaper.
Thank-you pageConfirms the order and says what happens next.Put the access link and the next action at the top.

Where the webinar sits depends on what you sell. For a course or a service, the webinar comes first and the checkout follows the pitch. When the seat itself is paid, the checkout comes before the webinar. How to measure each stage, from the ad to the sale, is in the webinar funnel guide.

Where Webinly builds each part

  • Every webinar: the page at the top

The registration page is built in the drag-and-drop page builder and collects the name and email that start the funnel. See webinar landing pages.

  • A paid webinar: checkout before the seat

When the webinar charges to attend, buyers pay before they get a seat: on a ready-made checkout page on Stripe or when there is a choice of how to pay, or straight on the payment page of Tap or a separate KNET account when that is the only way to pay. Its thank-you page opens in the same builder as the registration page. See paid webinars.

  • In the room: the offer ladder

On an automated webinar’s timeline, an offer can carry an order bump in its checkout. After a payment that keeps a card on file, such as a Stripe card payment, it can go on to a one-click upsell and a downsell without leaving the room. See offers inside a webinar.

  • Funnels: every step as its own page

A page per step, from landing to thank-you, selling any product with or without a webinar.

Funnels: multi-step funnels, switched on per account

Funnels is off by default. It is switched on per account, not by plan, and it needs an active plan. To use it, ask the Webinly team at contact@webinly.com. Until then, Funnels does not appear in your menu.
  • Products and offers come first

In Sales, Products, create what you sell, such as a course, a download or a service, then wrap it in an offer: a price and a currency. One product can carry several offers, so the same course can be a main offer in one funnel and an upsell in another.

  • Steps on a canvas

A funnel gets a name and its own address. Add steps, see them as a canvas or reorder them in a list, and connect them by what the buyer did: checkout completed, upsell accepted or declined, downsell accepted or declined. Only those five move a buyer; the menu’s other events, including the default Form submitted, do nothing, and a buyer with no connection to follow goes to the thank-you step. Each step card warns you when it has no page, no offer or nowhere to go.

  • Pages in the drag-and-drop builder

Landing and opt-in pages are built from headings, text, images, video, FAQs, testimonials, countdowns and buttons. A button reaches the next step only through its URL setting, with that step’s address typed in; its Next step and Checkout choices do not link to a funnel step, and the builder does not list step addresses. Upsell and downsell pages add an offer summary with accept and decline buttons. Their starting text is English, so on an Arabic funnel type your own wording into each field of both blocks, and keep the {{offer.price}} token in the accept text. The pages you design run right to left when the funnel’s language is Arabic.

  • Checkout with an order bump

The checkout asks for name and email, with optional phone and country, and a terms box. Attach a second offer as the order bump: a checkbox showing the name of that offer’s product and the offer’s description, which adds its price to the same payment. Give the bump its own product, so the box names the add-on and not your main product. Cards run on Stripe or Tap, depending on the offer’s currency and the accounts you connected. Offers you create in Sales, Products are priced in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD or AUD.

  • One-click upsell and downsell

After a Stripe card payment, the upsell charges the same card with one click and no second form. Declining leads to the downsell, if you connected one.

  • A thank-you page with the receipt

Your own content sits above the list of what they bought and the receipt. Put the access link and the next step in that content; the order list shows only names and prices.

  • Checks before it goes live

Publishing runs checks first: every step has a page, every selling step has an offer, a payment account is connected, a selling funnel has a thank-you step, and no connection loops back on itself. Until those pass, the funnel stays a draft. Dead ends and steps nobody can reach are listed as warnings only. A page you never published in the page builder still passes these checks, so open the funnel’s address and look at the landing page yourself before you share it.

  • Analytics for each funnel

Orders and customers, gross revenue and net after refunds, average order, checkouts started and the share abandoned, page views, unique visitors, conversion, earnings per visitor and revenue by step, over 7, 30 or 90 days or all time.

  • Every buyer becomes a contact

Each buyer lands in your contacts, one record per email, tagged with the funnel they bought from and sitting next to their webinar history and scores. A purchase can start a Bought something automation. See the customer data platform and webinar follow-up.

What it does not do

Funnels is not self-serve. It stays off until the Webinly team turns it on for your account.

Six step types have a public page. Landing, opt-in, checkout, upsell, downsell and thank-you steps show to buyers today. Webinar registration, booking, survey, custom, redirect and standalone Bump steps can be placed on the canvas, but a buyer sent to any of them gets a page-not-found error, and a Redirect step sends no one to another site. Put the order bump on the checkout step. An opt-in page has no email form of its own, so collect leads with a webinar registration page or a Webinly form.

Funnel one-click needs a saved Stripe card. In a funnel, the upsell and downsell charge only a card saved by a Stripe payment at checkout, so buyers who pay by Tap or KNET never see them.

No coupon codes or pay-in-4 at funnel checkout. The buyer pays the offer’s price in one payment.

The checkout form and the thank-you receipt are in English. Their labels stay English even when the pages you design are in Arabic. On upsell and downsell pages, any block text you leave empty shows its English default, the messages under the accept button (processing, added, card errors) are always English, and so is the default layout buyers see until you publish your own page.

Set up a funnel

  1. 1. Ask for Funnels

Email contact@webinly.com from the address on your account.

  2. 2. Create the products and their offers

The main offer, plus a bump (offer type Order bump) on a product of its own, an upsell and a downsell if you want them, all in one currency. Press Activate on each offer so the steps can use it.

  3. 3. Add and connect the steps

Landing, checkout, upsell and downsell; a new funnel already has its Thank you step, so do not add a second one. Open that Thank you step once so it gets a page, or publishing stops with a missing page. Attach each offer to its step and the bump to the checkout.

  4. 4. Design the pages

Start with the landing page and the upsell, which carry the selling. Press Publish inside the page builder on each landing, upsell and downsell page you design. Publishing the funnel does not publish its pages: until you do, buyers do not see your design, and get a placeholder on a landing page you started blank and a default layout on an upsell or downsell. Link the landing page’s button to the checkout step by typing its address into the button’s URL setting. A checkout step added with + Add step lives at the funnel’s address plus /checkout, such as /f/your-funnel/checkout, and renaming it does not change that. The builder then warns that the landing step is a dead end and later steps are unreachable; publishing still works.

  5. 5. Connect payments and publish

Connect Stripe or Tap in Settings, Payments, fix whatever the checks list, publish, and share the funnel’s address. Turn test mode off first: a funnel paid through Stripe refuses buyers while it is on.

Common questions

What is a webinar funnel builder?
A tool that builds the pages around a webinar sale and links them in order: landing or registration page, checkout, order bump, one-click upsell, downsell and thank-you page. The webinar persuades; those pages collect the payment and raise the order value.
Does Webinly have a funnel builder?
Yes. Funnels builds multi-step funnels with a page for each step: landing, checkout with an order bump, one-click upsell and downsell, and thank-you. It is off by default and switched on per account on request. The registration page, a paid webinar's checkout and in-room offers work without it.
Which plan do I need for Funnels?
Funnels is switched on per account rather than by plan, and it needs an active plan. Ask the Webinly team at contact@webinly.com to turn it on for your account.
Can I add an order bump to the checkout?
In Funnels, which is switched on per account on request, yes. Attach an offer of the Order bump type to the checkout step and it shows as a checkbox that adds its price to the same payment, in the main offer's currency. In the webinar room, an offer on an automated webinar's timeline can carry its own order bump.
Do one-click upsells work with Tap or KNET?
Not in a funnel. There, the one-click upsell and downsell charge the card saved by a Stripe card payment, so buyers who paid by Tap or KNET skip them instead of seeing a button that cannot charge them. In the webinar room, a one-click offer needs a card kept on file by the first payment: a Stripe card payment always keeps one, and a KNET payment never does.
Can I build a sales funnel without a webinar?
Yes, with Funnels, once the Webinly team switches it on for your account. A funnel sells any product you set up, such as a course, a download or a service, from the landing page to the thank-you page. Its buyers land in the same contacts as your webinar registrants.
